Is a Loft Conversion Suitable for My Property?

For general guidance, you need a minimum of 2.2M of headroom in your loft for a conversion to be feasible. You will also need to consider changes to the floor below to accommodate access stairs. A structural engineer will need to assess whether the foundations of your home are sufficient enough to bear the new loads the building will be subject to.

Not all loft conversions require planning permission, though it is always best to discuss the matter with your local planning authority and approach any neighbours who might be affected by the alternations to your home.
